Old guy, new project in Colorado

I am gathering parts for a power releasing rebuild of a 73 "S" 455 I recently inherited. I have Hooker Super Comps 1-7/8" primaries to 3-1/2" collector, E-brock Performer intake, currently saving for E-brock heads, with cam, carb and pistons - t.b.d. No emissions concerns due to year. Should I worrry about the rear end or tranny? 67k miles , driven by a little old lady (Really!) Will the new setup break the existing drive components? This is all new to me ( a 60 yr old semi retired carpenter) but should keep me out of the bars. From what I've seen and read in the various Olds forums, the 73-> 77s seem to be the stepchildren of the earlier versions, or am I imagining things? Any advice appreciated.

Welcome, that's a sweet looking '73, very nice. Minor mods should not affect the drivetrain.
