No spark

Hey all,
I am having starting issues still. It appears I have no spark, the car is a 1971 olds cutlass and the motor is a 403 from a 1979 delta 88. I have recently replaced the coil and ignition module and I have done all of the spark tests I know of and still no spark. Also today I removed the fuel pump to feel the timing chain and it felt extremely loose. I'm not sure if this is related to the car not starting. I really need some help thanks alot,
Zach

I assume you have HEI ignition?....Make sure rotor turns when cranking. If not your timing chain or gears are broke. Check for cracked wires on pickup coil in distributer. Make sure you have 12 v to distributer with ignition on.

The pickup coil is the part under the rotor near the module. I think the wires are gray and green or tan and green.....If the dist has vacuum advance the plate moves this coil and the wires crack and break.....a common problem..... Most important check for power at dist plug marked batt or pink wire with key on. Use a meter or test light.
