No car here, just my 1974 Glen-Coe jet boat with what I believe to be a 71 455 olds.

Wow nice engine, can't say about the boat as I know nothing about them but it looks fast. Welcome to CO.

Welcome

Welcome aboard

Wow that thing looks quick enough to stay out front of the sound so you can actually hear.

Open water, no speed limit when not posted. Can you say fast, helps feed the speed junkie.

fast for a boat

Its not as fast as you guys are probably thinkin. It cruizes at 71 miles per hour with just me, about five gallons of fuel, and absolutely no gear. About sixty five with four people, skis, ropes, life vests, paddle, a gallon of oil (just in case), and thirty gallons of fuel.

It is pretty cool to pass a guy in a 28 ft offshore type boat that he has dropped $200,000 into with a 1970's off brand boat I bought for $2800.

One more cool thing, It throws one hell of a wall of water behind it with the trim (diverter) up. sorry for the junky cell phone pic.

Jet boats are a lot different than prop boats, much less efficiant at high rpm, but getting thrown back in the seats from a standstill is awesome. the only thing between the impeller (like a prop) and the flywheel is a set of u-joints. No gears, no change in direction, almost all the HP goes straight to the drive. lots of torque used for the initial launch though, so the olds is a pretty good jet boat motor, but the sustained high rpm takes some modification, especially to the oiling system and the rods.

I love jet boats.

I used to have a Donzi that would run pretty well but not like your baby.
