Newbie w/ 350 rocket rebuild

Hello I have a couple of questions about an engine swap and I was wondering if you could help me out.... I have a 86 Buick Regal that has a locked up 307... I currently have an olds 71 350 Rocket Engine rebuilt that came out Vista Cruiser engine casting 395558 2.... Im having the enigne bore over 30 and a mild cam installed. I also have an olds eldbrock intake manifold that has an EGR port for and EGR. The engine orginal intake manifold didn't come with and EGR. So can I just buy some type of block off plate? Also I was told that I could not use my quadrajet carb with electric choke. and would need to buy a new carb ( eldbrock 600 manuel). Also I heard that If i take out my Compter then I can not use my AC. Is all of this true?

Lots of questions there but first Welcome to CO.

The 350 will physically fit with no problem, but you shouldn't bore it over unless the cylinders need it, your machinist could tell you once he gets it dis-assembled. You would probably be better off finding an earlier intake, since you mentioned an intake with an egr port the 350 probably has a 2bbl carburetor right? At any rate, you can get a block off plate but why not just get an intake without one in the first place and I like quadrajets so just use it, electric choke works fine and you don't need a heat pipe or a divorced heat activated choke of any kind. Not sure about the AC question.

The intake is an Edelbrock. You can get a block off plate from them or just have one made.

You shouldn't use your quadrajet because it is a CCC carb and you will never be able to set the mixtures properly.

The computer does control your A/C but there is a way around that. I don't have a G-Body and I don't know the fix for it, but someone around here should.

my engine at the machine shop as we speak.. the guy i bought the motor from gave me a eldbrock intake that had a egr vavle on it still. I noticed that the manifold intake that was stil on the engine didn't have and egr valve, so i guess i will just block it off. This will be my everday driver until I get the guts to have another car note.I was also wondering if i should stick with a mild cam or or go bigger.. I heard if i do then i would have to get a stall convertor (2500). How much do stall convertors run and will I burn alot of gas?

You can leave it on there. There is no need to remove it and block it off. The 71 intake didn't have an EGR because it didn't come on engines until 1973. It's no big deal.

I didn't even think about the Quadrajet being a CCC one, yeah you should probably use an Edelbrock carb.

The Edelbrock carb won't work on that manifold without a spacer.
