Newbie from Texas

Hi, I have inherited my parents 1987 Olds Delta 88 Royale and have been trying to get it in good shape both mechanically and aesthetically. The car now has 103000 miles and so far I'm having better look fixing it aesthetically. I've put less than three thousand miles and have had nothing but trouble. I've changed the ignition control module twice, the coil pack, the spark plugs and wires, the oxygen sensor, the temperature sensor. I've had the car to three different shops and two of them can't find anything wrong with it. One garage thought it was the crankshaft position sensor and replaced that but it didn't help. The car just idles rough all the time and occasionally is difficult to start. My family is terrified to drive the car because they can't depend on it starting when they want to. When it does start it runs very rough for a minute or so and then does fine. Otherwise the car runs really good. I just wish I could make the car dependable. I know over the years it left my mother stranded and she couldn't find a mechanic that could fix it either.

sounds like the injectors are dirty/partially plugged.

find a shop that will clean the fuel system while the car is running. just a thought from a distant shore.

Unfortunately we did let the car sit for a long time when we got it and the gas did get a little bad. The first mechanic we took the car to cleaned the injectors and ever since we have been adding fuel injector cleaner to the gas. The mechanic today checked them and also the fuel pressure and said the fuel pressure was only down about 2 psi. All of the shops at present say the fuel system is alright.
