Newbie saying hello

Hello everyone,

Just purchased a 67 Delta 88 convertible which led to my joining here. First Olds.

Had the Chevelles, Nova's, Roadrunners, Sport Fury's etc and now ready to start on my olds adventure. Look foward to restoring the car and learning along the way.

This will be a project with my 11 year old son and wife (permission gained for another car as long as it was a convertible)

Thanks,
Dave

Welcome to CO, Darmyman, aka Dave!! Be a fun project for the whole Family! Great that your 11 year old will become involved in our hobby, but outstanding that your wife will participate, especially as it involves a convertible. They are fun!

Looks like you've got a project ahead of you.

I've got one of those, too, and there are a few others on here with '67 Deltas. What do you want to know?

You're wife is actually going to help out? That's impressive. My wife helps out by letting me spend more money than I should.

Looks like a neat project. Is it sitting funny or is it missing the engine? Looks like a 70 442 in the background. Should'a scooped them both!
Welcome to CO

To all,

Yes, wife will be helping me. She's not afraid to get her hands dirty and son can't wait. The car does not have a motor or tranny in it now but the 425 and tranny come with it but need rebuilding. As far as questions go, I will have a ton of them once I get it home. 1800 miles from Washington to Wisconsin and I'm just finishing adding on to the garage then will be picking it up. I've been looking for parts already such as new convertible top, etc but need to get it home and make a complete inventory. Thanks for all the comments, I'm looking forward to this project and site.

How are you planning to get it home? Are you bringing a trailer? Having it shipped?

Looking at shipping - Not being able to drive on is costing me - or trailering it. Have the option of buying a 87 Chev dually in WA for a great price and pulling back on dolly. Will make a decision next week. Don't need dually so would be selling it once I got back here but its in great shape 69k miles and no rust should it should move fast, maybe pay for the gas back here.

Have you looked into renting both the truck and the trailer to put it on? I would think U-Haul or Ryder or something similar could set you up on a one-way move.

The reason I'm asking all this is that it's likely I'll be needing to move my '67 Delta across the country some time next year, and I'm trying to figure out how best to do it. I have a "mid-size" pickup truck (Dodge Dakota) with a towing package, and I'm wondering if this truck is heavy enough to pull a trailer with that car on it. I could just rent the trailer then.

Your experiences in your move will be very helpful to me. Thanks for sharing what you end up doing.

I looked at renting the trailer Uhaul but have to call them as their website didnt find any acceptable trailers or car dolly's that matched with the Delta 88 with my Suburban. I'll try the truck trailer combo as well to see how that prices. Thanks. I'll let you know next week.
