Newbie from NJ

Hi... I just found and registered in this site. Attached are a few pix of my current ride - a 1973 Hurst Olds.

Very cool car. I remember when they first came out. I had a hard time wrapping my head around the design - was too used to the 70-72 models I guess. Looking at it now, I can appreciate it a lot more.
You have a beautiful car. Thx for posting the pics and welcome to C.O.

BTW, for some wierd reason GM had a lot of problems with their sheet metal in 73. It was prone to rust - something about metal composition. Have you run into that with yours?

Nice looking car

Where did you take that picture? It looks like a show I was at in Garfield, NJ, over the summer.

By the way Allen, I read that the 73 Cutlass was supposed to be the 72 Cutlass, but was put off a year, I think because of union problems. That could be why you were having problems "wrapping your head around it." You were subconsciously expecting it a year earlier.

Thanks!

The car is rust free actually. 90.800 original miles. The interior needs some work - hopefully over this winter!

The pictures were taken in Boonton NJ. My brother in law restored the 71 Duster 340 next to my car... I have not been to Garfiled - I did the Whiskey Cafe this summer - a lot of nice cars there! Maybe someone can point me in the right direction for a good interior shop in NJ?

Nice 442 Allen

My first car was a 1970 442 - same color combo as yours... Silver and Black painted roof... 455 / 4 speed... loved that car... Wish I kept it...

Mike, yup the 72 was supposed to be the 73. That was a time delay from the 1970 UAW strike. Funny how a strike that far back will affect production years later huh? Anyway, no. The reason I couldn't get used to the new look was I was just so hung up on the lines of the 70-72. To me it's just such a timeless classic. My first one was Matador Red. I cleaned and polished the hell out of that car; it looked like it was moving when it was standing still. Got lots of compliements on it too. I still love the car, but hate the pricing that goes with finding replacement parts. It's starting to get a little better though.
