Newbie here!

Newbie to this forum, but not to Oldsmobiles. My first car was a 65 Cutlass with the 330 and 2sp pglide. So neat to be driving down the freeway @60, stomping on the gas and it downshifting to 1st!! Raced it the first weekend I had it and ran a 16.7 in the quarter. each time after it kept getting slower and slower.... Then tragedy, a lady didn't see me and took out the whole rear passenger quarter panel. Long story short, the impact cracked the exhaust manifold (didn't know until later) and it started running really bad. Insurance totaled it, but i bought it back. beat the quarter out with a sledge hammer and built a 455 turbo 400 combo with the insurance money!

After the break in period< ended up blowing up the stock 10bolt and replaced it with a 12bolt posi with 3.53 gears. Now that it was reliable, took it racing again and put down a 13.7 @100. not bad for the stock 6inch wheels and crap tires! Oh yeah, did i mention the motor is a 71 block and running 8 to 1 compression? Raced it for a while, but i kept getting crap for not fixing the quarter panel. So I found another 65 cutlass 2dr post with no body damage and swapped drivetrain. Problem is, that was 8yrs ago and 3 kids..... the car still has no wiring, interior, and a lot of loose ends. But, has disc brakes, a killer cooling system and aftermarket steering box and springs. Look for more posts about this car!!

My second car is a 70 Rallye 350 #'s matching low mile 4sp post car! I have owned this for a couple of years and it is a great car, but just not liking the fact that i want to drive it.... a lot. With low miles that is pretty hard to justify. Thinking of selling so I can finish my true love, my 65! Pros? Cons?

Welcome to the site! They both sound like nice cars and I'd have a hard time parting with either one of them How low are the miles on your Rallye?

Wow! It looks like your Rallye is based on an F85 post car. If I had that there's no way I'd part with it! I do see your struggle though, with keeping it a low mile collector or enjoying driving it. John

You have to quit listening to those voices. I understand about selling one to finish another! Been there done that, have the T shirt. Good luck on what ever decision you reach.

Thanks guys! I know I will always kick myself for selling it, but you can't keep everything! I'm going to try for a local buyer(washington state), but if anyone has questions about a purchase, let me know!
