Newbie from Gemany

Hello together,

My Name is *****,come from Germany/Bavaria, I am 29years old
and I want to buy a Oldsmobile.

My English is not good. When I write indistinct, please forgive me.

Three years ago I bought a Corvette.´74 SB350, Manuel.

I'm fixing almost everything yourself, if what is broken.
Clutch replacement,transmission removed and installed,
suspension bushings Replaced,Cooler removed and installed.

I think I know what I'm doing

Because I want to buy a Oldsmobile, I have a question.
What do I need to consider?
Where are the weak points, to which I have to look.
Body I know. But what about the suspension, steering,Engine ect ...?
Are there special Points? Is there a Buyer's Guide in the forum?

I am aiming on a 98 Oldsmobile '67 to '69.good condition, Convertible or sedan

About Advice and Tips (general and subject-related) I am grateful. Now
and later when I have the car

Thank you
Willypsilon

Welcome, I'd buy one as complete and restored as possible. They really are no different than any other car purchase rules on what to check. Good luck.

Welcome! I took 3 years of German, loved every moment learning about it. I may be visiting Deutschland this summer! I don't know much about the 98 series, as I'm much more into the Cutlass/442/F85 models. I don't know of a buyer's guide, either. Good luck!

Thanks for the friendly welcome.

I live in Munich.
Once the car is here, I will see where the problems are.
And if there are no specific weak points, great.

One question I have yet. Where do you buy your spare parts?
Is Rock Auto a good address? Or there are better suppliers?
Where do you buy spare parts?

Grüß Gott, My second car was a 74 Corvette fun but always missed my first car a 69 Cutlass. x2 Buy as complete car as possible. Lots of Germans on here and I believe a few in Bayern. Good luck finding a car.

My relatives came from Germany and I still have relatives in Muenchen, Frankfurt and Bremen. Go visit my ancestor Karl Phillip von Wrede - his statue is in Odeonsplatz. Anyway, i love Olds, but just remember any Olds is harder to get parts for than a Chevy for example and when you go to a 98 or 88 or toronado, it is much harder to find body, trim, interior parts compared to a cutlass as not as many parts are reproduced for those 88, 98 models. Buy a complete car as trying to find an emblem or chrome trim or bumper may be tough. However, mechanical, engine, brake parts should not be much of an issue, other than than shipping from US. Viele Gluck.

Rockauto is a very good source for parts, just watch which warehouse they are shipping from for freight charges. They have multiple locations.

Welcome to CO. I like Munich, was over there when my Dad was in the military. We found a music store there that had our last name on it. Distant relatives. Wish I could have stayed longer.

As far as the car goes, I would look for one that is pretty much complete, not missing parts. Look for a rust free example, especially one from the western part of the US.
