Newbie from Cincy

Thanks for allowing me to join. I’m from Cincinnati, OH and am currently on the hunt for a 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass W31. My Dad was a salesman for Simon and Fisher Oldsmobile back in the early 70’s and drag raced around Cincinnati, OH in the late 70’s and early 80’s. I grew up hearing stories about his 65 442 and how he found a 70 W Machine but couldn’t afford it at the time and wished he could find another one. He passed three years ago and now I would like to find one as a tribute to him and to share with my sons. I fell in love with the W31’s a few years ago and am now in a good position to put one in my garage.

Is that Tim Murphy? We met on another site. I couldn't believe he lived about 5 minutes from me and we had never met. Small world!

I'd love to come out and visit and even help you turn some wrenches when needed. Always happy to lend a helping hand and learn. That's crazy that he remembers him after all these years. He got out of car sales back in the 80's after working for Oldsmobile, Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac and then BMW where he helped open and worked for the first Cincinnati BMW dealership in sales and service. He was a character and a self taught mechanic before you had to have all the ASC certs, etc. He went back to school and became an OR Nurse and then a long haul truck driver before his passing. Not too bad for a high school dropout. He never stayed anywhere very long.
