Just found the forum from a Facebook post. Maybe being here will help me get back using the old olds.

Cheers

Welcome to the site. You may not be a newbie to Olds, just to the site. Post some pictures of what you have.

I was gonna say it's relative.

20 years is a "newbie" in the eyes of those who have had their cars since new (or nearly new), while there are others with much more recent purchases who would consider that "had it forever".

Beautiful car, welcome to the site. Love the way you filled out the rear wheel wells while keeping the tires nicely tucked in.

Perfection from this angle as far as I am concerned.

Thank you. That was me making lemonade out of lemons years ago. I swerved to miss a car and killed a rim on a curb. Good thing it happened before Boyd closed. They rehooped them to 10.5" rims with custom backspacing in the rear for me. Came back with a set of new center caps as well.

Awesome ! worked out great. Was not aware Boyd was gone

If and when you have a chance please post exact rear wheel specs. It would be absolute gold on this site. Cant tell you how many times over the years "what's the largest rim / tire combo that can fit on rear" comes up. 10.5 rim width has to be close to max. And larger than I figured could look and function as well as it does, on your car. Backspace and complete tire spec with make would allow us to extrapolate dimensions for all size wheel packages.

Sorry meant Boyd Coddington didn't think about Boyd's.

Okay, I don't remember the specs. Wheels arnt very common, I've not seen another set. Some guy special ordered them for his Camaro and then his wife said no.... I got lucky, showed up wanting ideas on rims, left with a set of Coddington's called Shysters at cost.

They started as 17x8 rims. Fronts are 245x45x17. Rears are 275x40x17.

Going by the tread pattern they look like

Mickey Thompson Street Comp Tires 6275

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/M...yABEgJCXPD_BwE (these are 40s rather than 35)

Section width is almost even with rim width which I'm a huge fan of. If the day ever comes that the rear wheels are pulled off please measure backspace if you can.

Thank you very much and enjoy the site !

So you are correct, checked them this morning. They are 275x40x17.

Thank You.

If anyone is interested, here are photos of it the day I picked it up.

Interesting story, so the year before I'd bought a 70 Lemans convertible, called my wife at the time and told her about it. She refused, said no. When I found this car for a better price, I went down, bought it and drove it home without telling her. I don't believe she ever even rode in the car.

Wife 2.0 was a great upgrade.
