Newbie with a '72 Supreme
Hello everybody,
First of all, thanks to the administrator for activating my account, on a holiday no less!
Sitting in my carport is "Sweetie," a '72 Cutlass Supreme, 350 4bbl coupe, left to my wife from her father's estate. The car was actually her mother's car, bought new, the one she learned to drive in, and used through high school so there's probably more history there than I want to know about!
I am sure that she would be delighted to be able to drive it and take pride in it once again, so it looks like I have a summer project.
Anyway, it has only 117K miles on it and is in pretty decent shape, but hasn't run since 2007. My sister-in-law tried to work on it, says it needs an oil pump, left some things partially disassembled, and has components/hoses/etc. wired-in rather than bolted, so my first job is to get it running, and find the various parts needed to get it presentable. I'll post some before pics in a thread in the Cutlass sub-group.
I'm a complete novice when it comes to Oldsmobiles, and have not worked on classic Detroit iron in over 20 years, so I'm sure I'll be asking a lot of bone-headed questions over the next few months. I've got a pretty thick skin, and even harder head so don't be afraid to tell me where and how I'm screwing up.

Welcome to the site and I am partial to 72's also. One of the first things I would recommend is buying the original shop manuals for your car. You can find them most of the time on ebay. Don't buy the first one you come to because pricing can really vary on these things. You should be able to get on for $30-$40. Try and get a good original instead of one of the reproductions. The manual will make life a lot easier for you since it sounds like you have lots of stuff to put back together.
