Newbie with 68-442 From Toronto Canada
Hello all. Just purchased my first oldsmobilefrom an older guy that is a co-worker. Couldn't pass up the deal , and i believe it was a good deal ?
1968 442 still all original #'s matching for $2000. Body is solid except for some very light surface rust on body and engine[valve covers etc] Needs new brake/gas lines and hoses but did hear the engine run. He was going to restore it 2 years ago and is tossing in the new brake lines rotors etc in with the purchase and are still in their packaging. He has all the trim, bumpers and even the head lights he removed from the car and stored indoors. still nice and shines. Will post pics and the restore process very soon. I gave some thought of parting the car out and making a nice profit
but the more and more i look at the car the more and more i actually like the lines and curves on this lady.Hope i can get some useful tips from you oldsmobile fans and look foreward to future discusions.......2000 dollars ? I believe i got a good deal.

You got a great deal! And this site is an outstanding place to tap the knowledge of lots of Olds owners, and particularly the 68-69 people. I was most fortunate to be guided to this site and it has helped me tremendously in understanding a lot of things that I just didn't know about. Have fun with your restoration!

Welcome, Jim. Smokin' deal if it's rust free and all original. Make sure you ID all your parts before shipping them out for restoration. Parts are getting harder to find for these cars and people without scruples will take them from you.

First pics added to album
Added a few pics added to my album during pickup bumpers.grill, lights etc are inside the car.
Ty 68Tom for the tip . As for Jamesbo i thionk Joe will just have to be upset because i think I'm going to go with fender stripes. Personal pref of course. And ty to everyone else for the warm welcome. resto pics will follow after i yank the engine/tran and prep her for paint .

Hey man, welcome to Classic Olds!
And thanks for adding yet another to our Canadian members. We're getting larger by the day it seems.
Oh, and seriously man, keep the talk of the fender stripes down low key once Joe is back man. We DO NOT want to do that again...lol
Possibly if you have your car done to correct factory "everything" and it is nice enough when done, Joe would maybe trade you his '68, which is correct with the W36 option from the factory.
I somehow doubt it though. But you never know...
hehe
