Newbie, 55 Super 88

Hi everyone, I'm Mike, I'm 21, and this is my first classic car. It is a 55 Super 88 4-door. Drove it home 110 miles yesterday, has the original interior, minus the carpet. I'm glad I found this forum, as I am sure I will have plenty of questions for you guys.

Nice car, looks like it has good bones. Is it manual brakes or power brakes. The pedal looks different

It is a pretty solid car, just a bit of surface rust here and there and the temp and fuel gauges need to be fixed, but the clock is still ticking away!

And it has power brakes.

Even for power brakes that pedal look unusual. It looks like a later model pedal. I believe the power brake pedal was the same as the regular brakes and simply has power brakes on the rubber pad.

Is master cylinders mounted on firewall or under the floor?

Looks to be a 63-64 era pedal and it's mounted on the wrong side of the steering column(to the left) and high so probably someone has altered the master cylinder. That could be good or bad depending who and how it was done. If possible a picture would be appreciated we are always looking for new and easier ways to modify this era brakes ...Lost in the fifties ...Tedd
