Hi, I'm new to the forum. I just retired recently, and I have always wanted to own a classic car from the 60s. My first car that I purchased just out of high school was a '65 Impala, 327cid with a four-bbl and a dual exhaust. I kind of thought I wanted to get another one of those, but I haven't come across any locally that I can look at, and the SS models are kind of pricey. I started thinking about other cars from that era that I always liked, and I remembered the mid-sixties Olds 442s. I just came across one recently that I can look at, so I am going to see the car tomorrow and hope that I have enough info that I have collected to make sure the car is what the seller says it is. It appears to be in excellent condition from the photos, but I will reserve judgement until I can look at it up close and personal. I have a list of all the usual things to check for that I have gleaned from internet articles. It, supposedly, has the original 400cid engine, and the seller says the A/T tranny is a "400". I'll post my questions in another forum section to see if anyone has any advice about this car. Thanks!

Welcome!...I'm Nick!...make sure you do the old trick and bring a magnet and a thin cloth with you....check for any dough in the car...hopefully it all works out and we will be seeing pictures of it tomorrow!

Thanks! I've got my magnet ready to go, but haven't heard about the "thin cloth" part of that process. Does the cloth go between the magnet and the paint?

Cloth would keep the magnet from scratching the paint.

OK, got it. I figured that was what it was for, but thought I might be missing something more technical. Thanks!

Try to get some pictures. Picture of the data plate that is in the engine compartment. Pictures are good start. Ask questions on this forum. Lots of help on this forum.

Good Luck
