Newbie
Hello! My name is Shane Smith, I'm from the Lansing, MI area and have become the owner of a 1968 Oldsmobile 442. It was my dads for about 30 years, he bought it used in the late 80's. I know it is not original, my goal is to slowly but surely bring it back to its glory. Any help along the way is greatly appreciated as long as it's not condescending... I have had a few of those people on Facebook

My father, actually my grandmother on paper, ordered my 442 new in late 68. She was built the day after Christmas and titled by Grandma on January 7, 1969 (3 days before Dad's birthday). Some things change.... but as long as the owner does not, it is yours. Never take a lick of **** from folks who proport to know it all and tell you what to do. I am taking my time getting my father's Oldsmobile back on the road. I am revitalizing HIS car. Not theirs or anyone else's. Unless, it is literally a time capsule and you do not plan on driving it, there is no right way. Your family did its job by preserving the car. I wish you all the best with your car. If you need any information or support, you have come to the right place. Most of the folks here are wonderful and will not give you any grief.... unless you want to put a chevy in that thing!!!
Welcome!!

I like, but I'm kind of a sucker for a 68☺️😁.
I was 12 in 1968 and the new 68 GM A-bodies just bowled me over. Then my dad bought a new 68 ElCamino, and my aunt bought a new 68 S Sports Coupe.
Strangely enough I've never owned a 68. Need to rectify that...

You've a Sharp Ride, ShortSmith! SOOO Cool that it's been in The Family since new!! Good Luck with your project.
Edit:
Just realized I "conflated" two posts, and that ShortSmith's has not been in his family since new. Still, a LLONNNGGG family history with this particular car. Way Cool! Show us some more pics!
And to 08-141 K43727, YOURS is a really cool story about a literal one-family history car! Now you have to show us more pics as well!
