newbee thing to do

well, i am new to this site and old cars....So i thought i would show off my first classic in my first post here. hope i am doing this right. I have spent quite a few years on snowmobile forums and and riding the great state of michigan. but the wife and kids wanted me home more (in the garage at least). it started with a simple tun up and now All i have left to do (to get it running) is get this thing timed right. I bought the car back in august. It was from northern california and has the original protecto plate and dealership paper work. I have put new ignition, water pump, powersteering pump, timeing chain/cover, fuel pump, edelbrock intake, holley street avenger 670, pertronics ignition/coil, stone shield grills, paint.....this is a addictive little hobbie! let me know what you think.

P.S. its a solid driver, the 442 stuff is for fun...

Nice car and you are fortunate to have all the original paperwork and P-o-p. It gives you some history of the car that most of us Olds owners don't have from back that far. This is a great site, especially if any problems develop as you can pick the brains of some of the best mechanics and Olds detail people that are here. I know it's helped me a lot! Welcome aboard!

Welcome, I moved to NC from Novi 8 years ago, Borned and raised in Detroit, Use to spend every weekend in Houghton Lake snowmobiling. Till the body got older and didn't like the cold as much. Do miss the snow at times, but here, I can drive my Olds all year long.

Thanks for the welcome! The car was a little dusty in the pics now that i look at them. I plan on having the rearend redone. What gear set would be fun to drive and still get 9 miles to the gallon or more lol? I am not sure what it has in it right now, but the car is faster between 45 and 80 then it in 0-45mph. It is not a posi.

well, got it timed right, cant wait to go for a ride. It sounds goooood. still a little nasty around here to go for a rip. It should be a little more fun: new edelbrock intake(liking the electric choke!), holley street avenger 670, new electric ignition, headers, flowmasters. it was a two barrel stock exhuast with points. Sunday should be in the 50's and sunny so mabey then.........

Ok, here goes, when I got my Olds, the headliner had been replaced, but there was only one shoulder belt on the pass. side mounted to the roof with the clips that hold the belt when not in use, but there is no buckle.
I have been looking for the buckles on-line, and I have found the other shoulder belt, but no luck with the buckle ends...yet.
Could you tell me where the buckle end mounts in the car? I don't know if it mounts along with the lap belt buckle or not...and since I do not have the buckle ends, I do not know how the lap belt and the shoulder belt fit on the occupant of the car!!
I guess that you could wear them separately, one OR the other, since the shoulder belt end is a little larger than the seat belt end, it has to be a separate buckle as both will not fit into the seat belt buckle!!
I think that I have confused my self!! If you figure it all out let me know...Thanks

I finnally got some seat time in the car. First i am lost a little on the upper belt buckel as well, not sure where to plug it in either. Now, the car "ran" much better. smother, responsive ect. I will say i thought it would have gotten quicker though. I need some advise on what to do to perform better. It is a dog out of the hole!. I am sure that a rear ent gear change would help, but is that the solution? the car just barly will peel them out. The compression is up near where it should be carb is tuned pretty good, ect. Let me hear what you you guy think i should do next as i would like a little more fun factor out of this car. It turns heads and sounds great!

The lap belt and the shoulder belt are separate, they have their own buckles in which to clip.

stall i it .

I know your feeling highlander, my 71 is slow off the line also. once it is rolling it moves pretty good, I think the biggest thing is the rear ratio, I havn't got under mine to get the numbers off the housing yet, but I'm sure it a 2 something, on the highway, at 65 it is only turning 2000 rpms, and around here most of the roads are 55 and up so I anin't going to change it. Plus I am running 255/35ZR/20 tires. The lap and the shoulder belts do have their own buckles as 1969W3155 stated.
