folks, if anyone has a link to a service manual it'd much appreciated. most of the literature this way is for holden or ford muscle, oldsmobiles are a rare commodity and reading on it even rarer.

Welcome, cool car.

'71 is the best year.
Oz?
Are you in Australia, Kansas or Outer Zimbabwe?

Edit: Holden? I got it.

Australia, in the wild west to be exact
One more question folks if anyone could help it'd be great.

What i thought would be simple fitting a car alarm has become a serious shamoo... aftermarket air con was fitted and now covers part under the steering column which proved a problem for the guy doing the install today. i'd be interested in anyone's experiences with similar installations. thanks

Wow, nice car and couldn't say about the installation troubles. Perhaps a photo would help a bit. Start a new thread as many members don't cruise this newbie sub-forum. Maybe in the interior sub-forum would do. Welcome to CO.

thanks for the tip oldsguy, and q and a i might move there instead.

i think it might be a matter of just getting in to the folks that fitted it originally, and getting them to dismantle it temporarily while the alarm guy works his magic

i would be interested in what car alarms folks find effective for these cars and what sensors work best.

Nice ride! It sure is a head-turner.

Is this going to be a daily driver? If it is just going to sit in a garage or only driven to a cruise night, I would not even put an alarm on it as it will always be in your sight. You can always pull the coil wire when leaving the car.

If someone really wants the car they will find a way to steal it.

thanks everyone

dannyboy- it probably will get driven regularly... with work sometimes have to keep it in a shopping centre car park so its my main concern

part of the reason i went for this car was to get a bit more familiar with servicing etc, have been taking motorbikes apart from a while but don't know my way around something with 4 wheels- danny boy, whereabouts is the coil wire?

Do a search on Ebay, under manuals and literature.

Next time you're down Bunbury way keep an eye out for my old Petty Blue '69 Road Runner. Shouldn't be too many of them around. Shipped it over late last year.

G'day orthoK. How's things in oz? nice car by the way, and if you can't find a manual on ebay that will ship it to you then you may try Fusick automotive , they have a catalog you can download on your computer of all the parts they have available as well as service manuals etc.

...I like it. When you say you picked it up last Thursday, where from? Was it a local car or did you import it?
And I'll be looking for manuals too. They came with my car but they didn't arrive with the car. I suspect they didn't leave California.

it was local col, picked it up at a local auction yard (www.ridescarsales.com) that deal with alot of older cars and some exotics. i'd been checking out a 68 camaro in kinda ok condition before this one became available. Being my first older car this was a much safer bet and i loved the colour scheme. Plus i'm a pretty big bloke (6'4") and the legroom and bench seat is pretty comfy

Mate you went the right way. I was Mopar to the core but was talked into trying Olds. Now hooked.
