Smile Newbe with 1964 Starfire!

Hello "oldsfolks". I joyned this forum in july and I have been enjoying beautiful pics of your oldsmobiles. I´ve owned this car since 2000, it was imported to Sweden 1999 from Los Angeles. I´d like to learn more about this cars history. Maybe I can get help with that here or if you know where to find information. I have the VIN codes if neccesary.
This have been a sad summer for me since my olds didn´t pass the "vehicle test". It had a loose tie rod end at the drivers side. I probably have to change it so I can use a little help with finding that part too... I hope to be cruising next summer instead. Have a nice summer out there all! /Marie

Marie, classy ride!

To get the correct tie rod end you have to determine whether your 64 has Thompson or Saginaw manufactured suspension components. The 1964 Oldsmobile shop book shows how to tell the difference, but the easy way is that one is for power steering, one for manual steering. I just can't remember which one is which.

Someone here can figure it out and help you find it. Shame for a Starfire to sit idle!

THANKS for your quick answer! Now I now more what to look for. I know my car have power steering. Hope the part is not too expensive ;-) but the important thing is to get the car on the road again.
Thanks again/ Marie
