New Vista Owner

Hi All,

I just took delivery of my 1968 Vista Cruiser. It is a one owner car that *was* in really great original shape. It *was* in great shape until the shipper hauling it up from SC allowed it to roll off of his trailer, down a hill, and into a tree. I will be posting a parts wanted ad to try and find a rear bumper and a tailgate.

Cheers,

Mike

Welcome. Amphicar770, seems like another member here really wants an Amphicar???
Got one? Or was your car stuck in New Orleans a few years back???

Us Vista Cruiser owners are a rare and special breed (If I must say so myself ) glad to have you in the mix.

Bummer dude...rolled off the hauler into a tree? I hate when that happens.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for those parts, you can post in parts wanted after you reach your 5 post newbie probation purgatory deal. Just keep answering replies and it will be over in no time.

Color?, engine?, options?, Got pics?
A lot of guys here only look at the pictures.

Yes, I do have a fully restored 1965 Amphicar and yes, I do take it in the water. I have owned it for about a dozen years now.

I also run the amphicar forums at http://www.amphicar770.com Thanks for explaining the 5 post purgatory rule. On my forums I moderate the 1st post and then free the souls!

Thanks for the pics.
That's really nice, too cool.

A real big leap from an Amphicar.

I guess they are both boats though?

'68 VC

Great looking (pre) looking car. Can't his/your insurance company get the tedious task of finding the rear bumper/tail gate? Seems as if that would be their responsibility. Hope you have great luck finding both, and soon. We do long those Longtops on this site.

Welcome

Welcome aboard [ Gee that sounds a bit funny saying that to an Amphi owner]

I'm the guy who wants an Amphicar. I need it like a whole in the head.

I'll check out your site.

Talking Welcome to CO

You just made Jamsbo green with envy. He has been lusting after an amphicar just about forever.

Nice VC to bad about the damage. Is the car hauler still alive or have you buried the body somewhere (we won't tell anyone)

Amphicar770, post your location and maybe somebody in your area will have what you need.
I have two gates and a bumper, but I'm in Calif.

Awsome Vista! I love the color match wheels with hubcaps. Post some pics of your Amphicar too.

I think it would be cool to have an Amphicar. I would use it as an escape pod for my 71 98.

ROTFL!

It would probably fit in the trunk.

Since it's a Land Yacht wouldn't it be a lifeboat?

Gene,

If the parts you have are rust-free CA parts I would be happy to pay extra for the shipping and packing.

I need a single action gate and the bumper without step.

Drop me a note at amphicar770@yahoo.com if you would be interested in selling some parts.

Thanks,

Mike

The only place you would be "set" is the bottom of the Lake

That Amphicar is so AWSOME! I wonder what it would run in the 1/4 mile?

I would gladly race it against any 442 on these forums for pinks. Only catch is that I get to choose the starting point and finish line (on opposite sides of the lake of course).

Still looking for Vista parts.

I got an extra set of chrome [all 4000 pieces] and an extra set of glass [just in case] from one of the Arizona wrecking yards that advertise in Hemmings.

According to the movie Transporter 3 you can get a car out of the water by letting the air out of the tires to fill a rubber tarp which floats the car to the surface. I should take you up on that offer and make sure I have a rubber tarp in my trunk.
