New user bought a 1969 98 holiday coupe 2 door! First oldsmobile!
A little Introduction..
Hi fellas, my name is Mathias i'm 32 years old and lives in Denmark. I spend most my time on old motorcycles and cars, currently a Harley Davidson 42' WLC and my 1969 Olds 98 2 door holiday coupe. By trade i'm an aircraft maintenance engineer, Helicopters more specifically.
I have my mechanical interest from when i was a kid, as my dad had the same. Choppers and cars
The 69' olds 98..
So my girlfriend left after a few years together, and life felt abit empty though large amounts of beer was flowing down my throat.. One night sitting in front of the screen looking through ebay, i fell over this 1970 olds 98, a model at that time i didnt recognize or heard of before. There was something that triggered me, though most of my life i've been into 30's and 40's cars. I started searching the internet, and found pictures of 98's and other oldsmobiles. The day after i got home from work, i started looking at 98's again and again, and suddently i found this ad on a danish facebook car sales group, a 1969 98 holiday coupe 2 door! It had the busted gold colour, gold interior, gold vinyl etc. WOW!! The price was ok, and i called the owner to get some info on the car. Turns out he imported from barstow, CA in 2017 and it had been stored since (This is may, 2019). We arranged a meeting, where i could try the car and have a look at it. It looked nice, seems complete and i was generally impressed with the condition! I said i would call him later on, had to think about it. The next week i was looking at the ad on and off several times a day, and dreamed of that car at night. I called him up, gave him a fair but lower bid on the car, and he accepted. I picked it up a few days later and drove it 150 miles home, WHAT A DRIVE!! The car is solid, no rust, no trim missing, most works but needs tlc though YAY!
Hope you liked my first post, and see you soon in another i have lots of questions!!
Here is a few pictures: Morning after i picked up the car. Morning after i picked up the car. Morning after i picked up the car.

Reason: Didn't finish post accordingly :P
Unless the engine originally had a 2-bbl carb, its at ~10.25:1 compression ratio and was built before cars in the US were mandated to be able to run on un-leaded fuel. This basically means that the valve seats are not hardened like the '72 and newer cars. So high octane fuel with a lead substitute additive is recommended. Running un-leaded won't cause drastic immediate harm, but over 100,000 miles it can take its toll.
Thanks again guys! I'll remember the the premium fuel filling I don't seem to find 1969 coupes for sale, haven't seen one the last 2 years i owned this... Mostly convertibles and 4 doors ofc. And none registret in Denmark
I paid 8k $ for it, the previous owner who imported it payed around 4k $ in shipping from US to Denmark, so is it realistic he payed 4k $ for the car? He told me he lost money on the deal.
