Hey guys

About 6 months ago I purchased my first US car. A 1964 F-85 Cutlass. Living in Denmark ,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denmark, seeing a US car on the street is somewhat rare.

I fell in love with this car when it was for sale at a friends shop so naturally I had to take it home and I did.

Some pics:

Yes... The Sparco seats has been removed.

I don't really know a whole lot about the car so any info is greatly appreciated.
From what I can tell from the cast number on the block it is a 1968 350. Mounted is a TH350 with a shift kit and maybe a stall converter, not really sure. How can I tell?
How can I identify the heads? And more about the engine?

Engine is fitted with a edelbrock performer intake and I have bought a Edelbrock 750CFM carb. to compliment it. The plan is also to mount my B&M shifter to get a floorshift.

Overall schedule is to fix the body, then the interieror and next winter take out the engine, tare it apart and put it back together repainted and all.

Right now I'm painting her black while the snow melts.

Well other than that I can only say that there will be a lot of questions from me about our great cars.

Best regards

Anders

Welcome to the site Anders! Yes, it looks like your starting with a pretty nice car so the project should be easy.

Look at the pictures on this thread to locate head casting identification codes.

https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...s-engines.html

Then you can go to the Wiki site to read up on the casting numbers you find.

Post any questions you come up with. John

Welcome. Car looks nice in front of the mural...great back-drop. The characters depicted don't look too much like Danes though. I can imagine a tough ol' 64 turning a few heads on the streets of Copenhagen.
2 questions: How much are you guys paying for gas over there, and
When is the first day of Spring in Denmark? ( I'm gonna get to the bottom of this 3 week season-start difference between up there & down here if it's the last thing I do)

If you're wondering about Q2,....Autumn started on the first March down here yet Spring started 20th March in the States. Just wondering about other places in the Northern Hemisphere.

Thanks for the welcome guys!

Thanks for the links 2blu442, I'm already a much smarter person on the subject of Olds engines. Hehe.

Col Wickham, Well American car amercian background. :P

Gas is right now a little over 2 USD pr litre so it is pretty expensive.

I really don't know about spring but late march start april would be my guess. My Olds is insured as a classic car so it is not allowed to drive during winter and according to my insurance company winter is over on March 31.

jaunty75, Land of the Vikings. :P

Nice looking car.

If you ever decide to put an original motor back in let me know.

I have a High Compression 330 from a 1964 F-85. Complete from Air Cleaner to Oil Pan.

Nice looking car Anders, and welcome to CO. Those bright colors under the hood kind of take me by surprise, not used to seeing bright yellows and blues like that. Did the previous owner do that?

Holy @%%#. That translates to about $8.00 per U.S. gallon. About three times what we pay here.

Oldsguy, Thank you! Yes he sure did. I must say I don't like those colours. When the time comes I want gold black and chrome in the engine bay.

jaunty75, hehe yes. It's very expensive. Cars is as well. When you buy a new car you have to pay a one time tax on it. Say you buy a car for 10.000 USD you will have to pay 150% of that amount 15.000 USD in tax alone. So your car will end up costing 25.000 USD. Thats a lot but unfortunately it doesnt end here. You pay 200 USD for each km you car is under the 10 KM/L. So if my car goes 4 KM/L I pay yearly 1.200 USD in enviromental tax a so called "green" tax.
This being a classic car I am able to avoid this and only pay 25 % of the original amount because it isn't a daily driver and therefore doesn't drive that much.

Welcome to Denmark land of taxes and fee's and high prices. It makes me sad even though we are the happiest people on earth according to Oprah (and we all know she's right about everything! ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwRSOHqXurU

Nordic Vikings is a big part of our history representing great warriors with a huge kingdom using the axe instead of diplomacy quite the opposite of what Denmark is today: small country relying on our politicians
For more information on vikings look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viking

A question about headers. I looked around and there is quite alot available for the 68 350 engine but will they clear the 64 a-body? Some are different in design than others, giving place for the oil filter I think? Will this be a problem on my car?
Thanks in advance guys!
