56 is a great year! I know that for sure. I was built in 56 too!
That's style....

Understand about your car being tucked away for the winter. Ont has a lot of classic car clubs that you should look into. They might be able to point you in the right direction for vintage parts or aftermarket. I do know that USA Parts Supply has a ton of vintage parts. check it out: (make take a while to load - just save it to your hard drive for future ref) http://www.usapartssupply.com/upload...75_catalog.pdf
Here's a link to info about classic car database. http://www.classiccardatabase.com/sp...56&model=27834 I just picked the Super 88 4 door sedan. There are others in the list. Just I don't know what your specific car is. You should also have a body data tag on the firewall with more info.
From what I've found out, your VIN should have a letter in it to indicate the manufacturing plant. VIN should be 9 characters long and be on the drivers door post.
56 - Model Year
3 - Series (your body tag will indicate if its a 36XX where XX will identify the 88 model type)
6 - (should be a letter, unless GM used Canadian factories for production too) to indicate the assembly plant. No idea what plant '6' is.
69803 - production number
I need help decoding the cowl tag, none of the books I have give any explanation to these numbers.
