New to Olds
Hey All,
Totally new to oldsmobiles. I was in the market for a project car and came across a 71 Cutlass S in need of some serious tlc. I love the style of these cars. Not in running condition yet and needs bodywork and paint among other things but that's all part of the fun. Thanks for providing a great place for info on these cars!

Ah, another Oregonian! Welcome to the site! Congrats on the new toy, please post some pictures when you have time. I'm down in Medford and have a pretty good stash of spare parts, and a fair amount of experience taking Oldsmobiles apart! Any questions that come up along the way post them and likely someone here can walk you through it.

Wow, am I late on replying or what? Over the last couple months I have dealt with catastrophic failures on my daily drivers, what fantastic timing! Transmission finally fails on the xterra and the burb blows its differential, among a string of other car problems all at once. At least I am soaking up the bad luck for everyone else within a 50 mile radius. VI Cutty, great info on the mismatched parts, this will definitely help on getting it back together and finding the right parts. On a positive note, I got it fired up a couple days ago! After I pulled out a bunch of random wires, searched for shorts with a meter, changed the oil, plugs, and battery, hooked up some gauges, drained the gas, hand cranked the engine, put some oil in the cylinders, primed the engine, installed a fan control stat, etc, etc, etc, it fired right up. I've got a few bugs to work out before I will let it roll down the road for a test drive. I am still planning my attack, my list of wants and my grip on my wallet are not agreeing with each other.
