Nice car! I remember when they were first introduced and I didn't really like the styling change. Maybe I was so used to the pre 'colonnade' designs. Now I can honestly say that it appeals more to me and I can appreciate the design a lot more.

The car looks very complete. What kind of problems and parts issues do you have?

The color should be near the original "cranberry red". It was Love at first sight (guess I've paid to much...) The Coupe Design is so elegant with these narrow hips and the elongated bonnet.
The car is originally from canada and pretty much complete. New exhaust, tank, wheels, brakes, edelbrock carb and intake ...

But actually I've some problems with ignition / motor running:
after the choke phase which is already electric controlled the engine stalls if the Gear switched to D.
Maybe the petrol supply or carburetor setup ?! during driving the engine ringing on pressing the pedal. Today an mechanic try to help my baby but he's not really the V8 guy i guess.

And my newest problem: yesterday the instrument lights went out suddenly. Fuse checked - is ok. Any guesses? The Rooflamp is working fine, all others outside too.

Thanks

the german american...

Eric, if the dome light works, it's not likely the rheostat.

Fyi

If this is the car that I am thinking of it sold new in Saskatchewan and was seldom driven by the original owner. Upon the death of the original owner it went to Thunder Bay Ontario with the nephew of the original owner around 2010. After several years the car was sold and went to Florida where it was restored. It was then sold and went to Europe.

I have pictures of the car from around 2010- 2012 when it was in Thunder Bay and still wearing its original factory two tone paint. What a shame that the vinyl top was installed when the car was painted as the two tone was far more rare and attractive (at least to my eyes). If memory serves me the engine was rebuilt and they put an early 330 crank in it along with forged pistons, a mild cam and a Performer intake. A picture of the balancer should discern if there is a 330 crank in the engine or not.

Good luck with the mechanical issues. Send me a PM if you want me to email you the pictures of the car as it looked when I knew it.

Dave

Hi guys,

thanks for the hint with the lights.
The story about the car is the same I have heard. That's seem to be the reason of the less mileage. Engine rebuilt and new Carb and intake - crank shaft don't know...
The vinyl top looks good on the surface but it isn't professionell finished in the angles of the A-pillars.
I think the top was bit rusty therefore vinyl was installed.

Best regards

Your car in 2010 when it was in Thunder Bay Ontario Canada. If I recall correctly there was only about 29,000 mi on the car when it left Saskatchewan & was driven to Thunder Bay. I was very close to buying this car but did not close the deal. I am pleased that it went to a good home; I had no idea the home would be so far away.

Dave, thanks for the pictures - yes it's mine now. I'm very appreciated to see the originally. The car is substantially in a good shape. Almost no rust.
Lot of parts were renewed and the Paint was showered over. New windshields and nice wheels. Mileage is about 26.000 m. Seems the old owner wanted to have a "Standuhr" (german slang for a car which stand still all the time than driven).
Today I got the redeeming call from my mechanic that the carb was the reason for stuttering engine. was glued of old petrol. Hopefully the weather is going to be better that I can meet the Berlin V8 community on weekend.

After I've to care about the Instrument light malfunction.

Best Regards from Germany

Glad to help out. Enjoy your car. Still hard to believe that this low mileage car from small town Saskatchewan had such a long journey to find a loving owner.

Now that we know that this is the car, the OP might be interested in knowing he can get GM of Canada documentation for it.
