My name is Charles, I am from France and I am 25. I came here because i just bought an 1972 olds cutlass and I would need some informations.
It is not my first american car, all started at my 19, I purchased a 2000 V6 Camaro (Yeah I know, not the best engine ) I kept this one for around half and a year, then, I bought a Peugeot, and 2 different E36 BMW (325 and M3) later. The last was the best to me. A 2000 C5 Corvette with manual transmission, awesome car. I just sold it some months ago and I decided to purchase a classic muscle car. But I didn't want something I could see at every corner (Like mustang, very popular here).
I found a 1972 cutlass for sale in Montreal, and an friend sended it to me. (Actually, the car is on the boat right now) The car is not matching number or colour. It has been restored 2 years ago. As I am curious, I wanted to have some informations about the data plate, but first, let's show you some pictures !!
Cool car. That is some dash panel. I am curious about the set of x3 green toggle switches & accompanying mini lamps. Do you know their purpose? [Left to Right: (1) Sub-Sonic, (2) Super-Sonic, (3) Solid Rocket Booster?]
I like use of the ash tray for the x3 instrument cluster. Nice.
I didn't realize even on the '72 models w/ no AC they had push-pull air-flow vents on the kick panels.
The car looks pretty nice.
And, the dual-trumpet exhaust tips.

Unfortunatly it is not a real one, it left the factory as a standard Cutlass.
eBay is also a good source for parts as numerous items do appear from time-to-time.
You might want to invest in a 1972 Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual (CSM) as it is the best source of information for your vehicle. Buy the paperback edition. There are many vendors who sell originals and some duplicate manuals. Check around for best prices, etc.
I recently saw a CO member had some for sale. So, Search this site, also.
BTW, in the last pic of your Olds there's a red sports car parked in the back ground. Is that a classic Jaguar? Does it belong to a friend of yours? If so you should challenge him to a race. To make if fair you can tow that 1/2 ton Toyota pickup and give him a head start.

Thanks a lot for all those links, i will check the CSM out, might be really interesting. I found some PDF on the net, like the specs book with salesmen's prices etc
By the way, thanks to this pdf i found the original in and out colour.
On the last picture, the car is waiting for its transport to France, it is a parking lot and i don't know the lucky owner of this Jaguar. To be honest, my Olds come with the L34 V8 completely rebuilt, but i don't know its power. It was sold for 180 hp in 1972, but i have no idea right now.
Welcome and be warned that Joe is a grumpy old fart. Everyone else is completely normal.
That is a wildly crazy car for France and so extra cool! Those bimmers have nothing on the style of an American 442. Plus, I had an e46 and it has impressed me never to buy another BMW (what a POS that was).
Anyway, really cool for you to drive such an awkward fitting car for France. You must be a total rebel. Again, welcome to our group misfits.

I won't be invisible here for sure ! I was in love of my E36 M3 3.2, a real good car impressive on track. But now, i just want to ride with an awesome song !
