it's not leaking but it seems like it's not getting enough fuel to the carb. it looks to be the original pump but it could be something else causing the issue the car just seems to take awhile to start like turn the key and it cranks and cranks and cranks than fires right up

You have to pump the gas pedal once or twice to set the choke. I would go through and check the state of tune and condition of the ignition system components among other things. I will check a newly acquired from front to back prior to driving all over the place. Things like ignition, steering, brakes, and suspension.

yes I just got it a week ago haven't had a chance to go through it the previous owner said it hadn't been started in 4 months prior to me and hadn't been driven at all since last year. everything is new suspension wise. I was gonna start with a fresh tune up plugs wires cap rotor and fuel filter.

I agree about not replacing the fuel pump. Your startup issues are probably carb related and not the fuel pump.
As for the tires, yeah 235-60-14s are tiny. 255-60-15s will fit fine on the rear with plenty of clearance. They may fit up front, depending upon your suspension. I tried that size on front of my '70 Supreme back in the late 80s and it rubbed, but others have reported no rubbing. I think it just depends upon your particular vehicle's ride height, spring stiffness, frame straightness, etc.

ok I'll check more into the carb tomorrow when I'm off I really haven't had a chance to go thru the car completely. and yes the wheels are way to small for this car. I've been looking at wheel combos all day just got the car and I'm already wanting to spend money on it lol the car hobby is an expensive addiction

Well just to let you all know I replaced the points set the dwell on timing and it ended up being the fuel filter. car runs amazing now no hesitation no backfire thru carb. thanks for all your input. I'm insuring the car what would be a good value to put on it just judging from pics and mileage?
