Glad to have found the site. Pulled my 1972 Olds 98 LS out of storage after 38 intermittent years parked and rarely used.
Having fun getting the old gurl working again with many nice surprises along the way. What a machine.
Although I also own two Pontiacs a 73 Grand Am and a 77 Grand Lemans, the 98 is my favourite.
Happy to share what I have done in the past 2 years with the car and what I have learned about it. Here I am quite a substantial car...

Looks like I missed the boat getting the Olds thing running again by at least 10-15 years lol.
Parts are virtually non existent and donor cars about all gone by now.
Nevertheless will persevere and keep searching and getting her looking better all the time.
The muscle cars are all lovely but the 98 is like driving the living room couch in ultimate comfort.
It certainly doesn't lack any get up and go with the new Dual Exhaust and HEI Distributor.

Welcome Eugene , my big 4 door is also like driving the living room couch . Parts for my car are non existent in my area . But i did see some cars in a private collection in Saskatchewan . Yes I love my Couch in the 98... and it is without a doubt way more comfortable than any of my other cars or anything new out there.

I have a similar vintage Delta 88 (1973), and I'm curious what kind of parts you're looking for. If you're looking for body and trim parts (fenders, doors, etc.), then, yes, those are not available in the aftermarket, but this has been true for more like 40 years, not 10 to 15. But if you're looking for mechanical parts (engine, transmission, drivetrain, brakes, etc.), and I assume this is what you mean when you say you want to get it running again, those are still generally readily available both online and from your local auto parts store, although some things may have to be ordered.

We got the car running in the spring of 2022 with almost all the mechanicals worked out as late as a few weeks ago.
Looking to replace things with better stuff mainly cosmetic things. Could remain as is but always looking for better items so this is a wish list:
Front and Rear Bumper Rubber Impact Strips NOS only or absolutely perfect used, the Rubber inserts attached to bumper around the area below the taillights, A dark brown steering wheel that is not cracked and that still has the wood rim insert completely intact, Brown Oldsmobile front rubber floor mats with minimum wear no tears or marks, the front bumper guard hardware for the pair to bolt it to bumper including the rubber impact strips, thats about it for now.

Those are all cosmetic things. Good luck. Most anything you find either NOS or from a junkyard car will be just as old and in a not-perfect shape as well because much of the deterioration of plastic and rubber parts is due to age and sun exposure, not mileage or use. Anything you do find that is in new or nearly-new condition will probably cost quite a bit. But you never know. The hunt is part of the fun.
Just to show you what I did with one my cars, below are the before and after photos of the wheel on my '77 Toronado. It's condition was not bad, with no major cracks or anything, but the trim was deteriorated and peeling off, and there was definite wear from hands being on it for the past 45 years, especially along the bottom.
But rather than a replacement or getting this one restored, I resorted to an aftermarket cover. Most of those you find nowadays are made for modern cars with thicker-diameter steering wheels, so I had to adapt something to fit. I trimmed its width and had my wife put new holes for the thread with her sewing machine. I think it turned out pretty good, and many casual lookers at the car would probably never think that it isn't supposed to be this way. Plus it's comfortable to hold.
Not a bad idea... I used to have a leather one quite similar but it eventually fell off lol.
I completely forgot about this and will try to locate a suitable one so thx for reminding me.
The cosmetic parts for me are a wish list, you are right.
A lot of the stuff I have come across is scary used worse than what I have already.
The NOS astronomical.
Half the fun was searching the yards for the part but these cars are long gone from scrap-yards...:-(

Nutmeg this is your new member intro , so i will not list what i am looking for . Yes, i would think an Ontario car the rear bumper might be rusted out and the rear plastic / rubber bumper fillers . Cars from Saskatchewan might have the same issue , as they use the tailings from the Potash mines to salt the roads and even build some roads . Yes very nice ride , every other car we get a ride in feels like a go cart compared to our car . We love pictures so post more pictures ! Roy Ale
They are custom made to the dimensions you provide. They have multiple colors and styles. I installed one on my 71 98 and my 86 Ford F250. Here's a pic showing the 2 tone steering wheel cover in my 98.
