I joined recently, so here is some background info on myself. I currently have a '70 Cutlass Supreme (year round daily driver for the last 9 years - 1rst car) and a '75 Starfire. I am currently looking for a '68 - prefer a drive quality vehicle, 4 spd, and a/c. I don't know much but will help out if I can.

Welcome. You will find this is the best place to go for Oldsmobiles. There is an abundance of knowledge here and lots of good folks willing to share it. Good luck on finding the 68. There are a lot of them around but the 4-speed is going to make it a lot tougher to find and probably a lot more expensive.

Oh, I would prefer a 5 speed, but from what I have seen the costs involved (even getting a used 5 speed) are pretty high (arm). Than there is the question of tracking down all of the linkage and interior parts (leg), which probably won't work with the 5 speed.
What transmission do you have, and would you recommend it or a different one. The only knowledge I have about 5 speeds is T5s.
Thanks.

'75 Starfire
I would nominate the 1975-80 Starfires as the most forgotten Oldsmobiles. It seems like I saw them everywhere during those years, but you NEVER see them at car shows now, not even Oldsmobile shows. I don't even remember seeing any at the Olds Centennial show in Lansing in 1997, although that doesn't mean there weren't any there.
They don't tend to have a lot of value, even though they're apparently quite rare. But if I ever came across one in decent condition, I might buy it just for the novelty aspect of it.
