If you live in central KY might be able to find you some parts. I live in E-town. I know of several G bodies that you can get parts from. Also if your close to Louisville check out Pull a Part they have around 20 or more 80s Cutlasses.

When I first read "restoring an 81 Cutlass" I did a doubletake. Then I thought a minute and realised this car is now 28 years old!

We do all Oldsmobiles here, but you can visit oldspower.com for specifics on the G-body car. You'll see some familiar names there too.

Stick around here to and tell us about your successes (and failures, and made-me-mad-as-hells, and why-did-I-ever start-this's ). End result will be worth it.

Restoring 81 Cutlass

I am from Murray KY,the car is in fair shape already but needs a bit of care. It has a 455 Buick engine and a turbo 350 trans. Not sure about much else yet. Just got the trans to stop leaking and now found a bad power steering leak (as if there are good leaks, lol!).Will get a pick on here soon.

How did it end up with the Buick 455 in it?

Smile Buick in the olds

I "inherited" this vehicle by way of the wife, it was her late husband's toy. As I understand it, he blew the 455 olds he had put in it and a buddy had wrecked his Buick with a 455 so I guess you can figure the rest. Seems to me a mildly hot 350 would do just as good and be more economical. Don't get me wrong, the big block is nice but such a resorce drainer! I am not sure what year the 455 is but it had to be a 70's engine.

Welcome to CO. Good luck with your project it sounds interesting. The 455 will make her jump but if you are doing some hard driving you may want to consider the TH400 for a trans.
