New Kid on the Block

Just saying hello from the Memphis area.
I'm a Pontiac guy at heart, but I want to learn more about Olds as well. My curiosity was triggered this June in Bowling Green at the Hot Rod Reunion. I was helping my neighbor run in Nostalgia Super Stock (he runs a 64 Chevelle 2dr wagon) when I saw a beautiful white Cutlass (65 I believe) running in the same class, and I fell in love!
Needless to say, I kind of just want to get my feet wet in the Oldsmobile part of the hobby and see what it's all about.

I wish more people my age would get into the hobby, help us keep it going! I guess I was going to part of it by default since I grew up doing old Pontiacs with my dad. I recently got my 73 Firebird Formula 400 running and am currently getting it roadworthy. It's been a 5yr project so far!

It's nothing too wild, just a 9.1:1 compression .030" over 400 with TRW forged flat tops, hand ported iron d-port heads, custom grind 276°/284°, 228°/236° @.050, .474"/.474" 112LSA, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, Shaker Tuned Qjet, Hooker 1.75" headers, and a Performance Distributors DUI, all backed by a TH400 I built with a Hughes GM25 converter. Probably a low 13s/high 12s car, great for a first street/strip setup! Bodywork is on the to-do list for the summer.

One of my local friends has a very clean 69 Cutlass with an Edelbrock head 455. I wouldn't mind having something like that..wouldn't mind at all.
