New(here) old 442 owner
Hello all,
My name is Jerry and I'm addicted (to my 69 442)
I am the new owner of my 2nd 69 442. It is nearly identical to the 1st one I bought new upon my return from Viet Nam in 1969. The one that I just received yesterday is a beautiful car. I bought in from a great guy in Dallas, Tx. Car was shipped to me in less than 24 hrs here in Tucson, Az.
The car is in near perfect condition for a 47 year old car. It has won 1st place in a regional Oldsmobile Club of America car show scoring 983 out of a possible 1000 point score this past April. I am really happy to be able to own this 442.
The previous owner had informed me that he had a problem with the Tach reading high at cruise RPM, so he attempted to install a signal filter to correct the issue. Well as to be expected, that didn't work out so well as the tach now reads very low(400 rpm or so at idle). Car has HEI ignition and I haven't taken the time to check out the problem as of yet(to busy admiring and having fun).
If any of you folks can give me any advise on what to look for to correct the problem I would be forever grateful. I'm sure that I'll have many more posts here later. Pictures will be forthcoming.
I also own a 67 Camaro convertible and have found hoe valuable forums such as this can be. I have been a member of Camaros.net for many years. and use Hot 67 as my user name there.
Thanks,
Jerry.
