New old Olds Owner

Hey there. Just wanted to stop and and introduce myself. My name is Scott, I live in western KY, and I picked up a '72 Cutlass Supreme convertible over the weekend and have already spent quite a bit of time browsing this forum since. Car turns over but believe it needs some carb work as the previous owner had it apart and wasn't sure how to put it all back. I have been modding vehicles for many years but this will be my first restoration attempt. Body is solid except for one small rust spot behind the rear driver side wheel. Power windows and top work as they should although the top itself is shot. Plan to get it running first then go from there. Look forward to gaining knowledge and getting advice from those who have been there. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.20130827_120419.jpg

Welcome looks like a nice car. Need a little more info on the starting issue. Like what are the symptoms. What ignition and carb is in it now? SB or a BB?

Welcome. Nice ride.
If your carb is apart now
and you have the proper kit,
it should come with a breakdown
of all the parts and adjustments
in the kits paperwork.

Has a lot of potential. As for the carb, I haven't even gotten into it yet. All I can say for now is that it is supposed to be all original. Has the 350 Rocket in it. Wondering if I would be better off to just buy a new carb and go from there. I know a lot of this info I can find digging around the forum and plan on doing so just been busy. I work on the river and leave Tuesday for 21 days so not getting deep into to anything for a few weeks. I would like to know this. Previous owner did lost the ignition key and never had the round key so any suggestions on getting the trunk open? Pulled the back seat out today (what the locksmith told me to do) but no way in hell can I get to it that way?

Wow......been trudging through the forums and have never seen so many different opinions on one subject. Brain is sufficiently scrambled for a bit and I think I'm more confused now than I was before. Lol. Lots of good info, just hard deciding which way to go
