New Here!

So I signed up on this site to see if I could find a Power Antenna Switch. So After I got logged in I went straight to the "Parts Wanted" section and made my plea.

With in hours of posting low and behold "Allyolds68" started a chit chat with me and has me all hooked up. Really cool dude and has a loads of info. I'm sure we will chat more as I'm tinkering with my 68!

This is not my first Oldsmobile as I started back in 1987 when my wife to be had a 76 Cutlass Supreme, 5k later on a paint job and one look at it (Triple Black) I told her this is to clean, nice, pretty to drive as a daily driver and she bought herself a S-10 Blaser.

Then we got into the Local and National Olds Club and my wife became the Secretary. After years of that she was talked into the VP spot and yup then the President of the local club. I was the coordinator of Yearly Minnesota Olds show and every 4 years the Quad State show.

We are no longer members of the local Club and I just re-upped in the JWO (Journey With Olds), although we had meet and retained a lot of really cool olds people and we still hang to this day.

While traveling around the country with Olds members to National Events we took up a liking with Convertibles and told ourselves some day we will own on.

Long story short I have always wanted to do a Tribute 69 HO convert (noticed one being done on this site....really nice lookin) and after deciding (the wife and me) we started to look this spring. One of the local olds guys I have hung around with and meet from the beginning of the State olds club very knowledgeable so I was bouncing some 69 converts off of him as I would find them...after about three or four times chatting with him he told me that he had a 68 convert for sale and had a special price for me.

As I said above long story short...(yeah right) we bought it from him and we put 4200 miles on it this summer. The one thing we did decide was that we would never make it a 990 some point show car as we did with the 76 and were going to just drive it and keep her looking nice.

Ok I'm done....this looks like a really cool site and I'm glad I stumbled onto it.

Thanks!

I'm with Oldcutlass on pictures, I'm sure the 68 guys will be waiting to see it, I would certainly like to see both, however I'm a 76 Olds guy so those pics would certainly make my day.
Cool story now pics please.

Thanks Larry.

My 76 is probably one of the most correct originals in the country (not to say that there are not others)...It is/was (20 some years ago and has probably had 500 miles on her since) a 990 plus point car and has won many Nationals. We are now driving her more probably put 200 miles on her this summer the most in 10 years combined.

The 68 is all original numbers matching but that is going to chance a bit as I am going to make this into a more modern day driver...trany, engine and suspension. But when she goes down the rode she will be all original, unless you can open hood and or crawl underneath her...lol!

But thanks for noticing!
