New guy in VA, 1969 olds cutlass convertible

Got the car mid summer. Been driving it some. Plans are to start restoring it this winter. Already taking apart. Have done a bunch of research and have been reading this forum for a few months. Should be a few pictures attached if I did it correct. This is what it looked like when I got it.

Last edited by bluecutlassconv; February 9th, 2012 at 04:52 PM. Reason: adding pictures I hope

Welcome. Where are you in VA? Our DC-area chapter is holding a meeting on Sunday in Rockville, MD.

Some more info on the car. Its a 1969 but the engine is a 1977 350 olds as best as I can determine (casting numbers). Its an AC car (all there but not working). Bucket seats with console auto (350 turbo). The previous owner re-did the suspension and most of the interior and put in the rally pack. The car runs OK. Plans are to do rust repair (not to bad so far). Plan on rebuilding the engine and getting it painted.

Looking for some info. I have found 3 sources for parts, Fusick, Parts Place and Original Parts group. Any of these guys any better than the other?

Parts I am looking for so far, rear bumper bracket drivers side (fair amount of rust) left is good. Also looking for mid brace under the floor where back of front seats bolt to. Have seen some threads about parts not built correct.

Will get more pictures later. Realized what I have are to big memory wise.

Looks like a good driver as-is. Fusick's is probably best liked on the forum and Year One is another choice but sometimes pricey. Also In Line Tube. Shop around and use the parts wanted forum. Might find what you need from a member at a fair price.

How far are you from Rustburg? I just met someone from there via e-mail and he has a 71 or a 72 convertible. Go into general discussions scroll down and look for Oldsmobiles from Virginia, post info there

Welcome, nice ride! I have dealt with several of the above mentioned companies and I like Fusick the best. Fast shipping, no problem returning defective or extra parts and will give 10 percent discount on large orders. Still looking for bumper bracket?
