new guy trans info

Hey guys, in the final phases of getting my 67 delmont back on the road but i have a question on trans swapping. i was actually looking into buying a 71 riv because I love the body but really was impressed by the space ship like interior. i however found my delmont at a great price and when i saw the body line i knew i had to have it. i which leads me to my dilemna. i have a local guy selling the interior of a 71gs (buckets plus console with shifter, brackets, and cables). i think he said it was hooked up to a 350. i currently have a column shifter (not really sure what trans i have but i know i have the 425 with 2bbl carb and the car is stock). a buddy of mine says that it shouldn't be too difficult to change to a floor shifter as long as all the brackets and cable come with it. the guy says that he has everything from the top and bottom to hook up.
i was wondering if i could get any advice to see if this is doable. i been looking this site over these past few days and it looks like they're are many knowledgeable members so i'm hoping to borrow some expertise.
thanks, in advanceguys.
fred

I have never done an ABody to BBody(have done A-A and A-X) swap as you want to do. If you have all the brackets and the info on where to mount them, a problem which I can foresee is the length of the cable. The engine sits farther away from the firewall in a BBody than in an ABody thus moving the trans shift rod further ahead and requiring a longer cable. Others issues will be kickdown cable and other things. If you use the search and search for TH350 swap you should get all the info you need.

thanks for the welcome and replies. i think i might hold off on the whole floor shifter thing for now. I'm just going to get a floor console and bucket seats and finally get this car painted and ready to go for spring! i'll post some pics of before and after too see if i can recognize it after the paint and wheels go on.
