Hello all. After a long period of lurking this forum I am ready to join the conversation.

My car: 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, First car I ever owned. I bought it 2 years ago for $500 and it originally had a VIN Y 307 that was blown and would do nothing but billow blue smoke constantly (turned out to be a broken head bolt!). 6 months ago I scored a complete 1969 350 rocket with 20,000 miles since last rebuild for $300. 100% pre-smog with #7 heads and a 10.5:1 compression ratio. Dropped it into the Cutlass and it runs like a champ. Needless to say the old 307 went to the junkyard very quickly. Ditched the CCC distributor, CCC quadrajet and added a vacuum advance HEI and non-CCC quadrajet sitting on top of an A4 aluminum intake with complete EGR removal (plenum tubes and everything). On the exhaust side I added a set of Dynomax Blackjack headers, 2.5" dual exhaust and a set of Cherry Bomb Turbo mufflers.

I've been an Olds guy since before I bought my first car. I was supposed to receive a running 1985 Cutlass Salon for free. I went to check it out and fell in love. Sadly the deal fell through so I searched every classified I could get for another one. Eventually I found an '86 Cutlass Supreme 2 door G-body on Craigslist listed for $800. Turns out the guy selling it was someone who I've known since I was a baby and lived right around the corner. He knocked $300 off the asking price. The whole time we were in the process of changing the title over to me, he was receiving $1000 offers for the car. But he let me have it for $500. For about a year the car sat undriveable in front of my old house in South Philadelphia due to a massive transmission leak and the 307 that was better suited to be a mosquito fogger. South Philly residents don't take too kindly to people working on project cars in the already overcrowded streets so the car just sat. Eventually I moved to Panama City Florida and shipped the car down from Philly for $800, only because it was my first car and I was hell bent on finishing it. Dropped a 350 in it and the rest is history waiting to be written.

I look forward to being a member of this vibrant and knowledgeable community of fellow Olds heads.

Glad to see you un-lurked (is that a word?). Bet you like the difference the 350 makes? What more plans do you have for your Olds?

Use the [IMG] tag in the post followed by the image URL then terminate with [/IMG] tag.

I don't have many photos of the car, just some I took during the motor swap.
They're huge pics and I, so I'll just post the links:

Yeah I've only been here for a year, and only 21. Long before I was even thought of. I'd have loved to see all those old muscle cars lined up on the beach.

You bet. Love being able to glue my friends to their seats just by stepping on the gas. The sound is amazing too, even at idle. Wish I could run it open headers all the time but my take is the local authorities would not appreciate it as much as a gearhead. Eventually I plan to tear out the rearend and swap in a posi unit with some taller gears as the stock 7.5" non-posi unit already in there just seems so mild. Probably will beef up the stock trans as much as I can (th200c). After all the mechanical stuff is complete to my satisfaction, it will be time to start on the bodywork. Need to patch some rust holes and then paint it. Eventually I will tear the engine out again and paint it aswell. Just was rushing myself so much to get it done I decided to forego prettying it up.

Again thanks everyone. Glad to be here.
