Greetings Everyone, New guy here. I own a 1965 Oldsmobile Cutlass with a 455 and 4 speed. In 1981 when I was 15 my father found the car in a barn, he went and asked the person if they wanted to sell the car and they said yes. He then asked them how much and they said $25. He brought the car home and I started to work on it. The engine, and interior were bad and the paint job was faded. Tires were shot; spare tire and jack were missing. The car was straight didn’t have any dents and no rust. 4 speed transmission was fine. I rebuilt it and had in done right around my 17th birthday. I was excited to have it done, I learned how to drive and got to use a 1975 Oldsmobile custom cruiser station wagon and my brother had a 1968 442 that my dad bought in 1970 that he let me use sometimes, but now I had my own car.
Drove it in high school and then college, got married and it was my daily driver for quite awhile. During college I left the cap to the oil filler tube and all the oil got sucked out and about 200 miles later the #1 piston blew up. So A friend had a 1965 442 that he bought but was selling and it had a 455 in it when he bought it so he sold it to me and a rebuilt it and put it in my car. Around 2005 the garbage man hit my bumper with his wheel as he was backing in to pick up a trash bin. Right after that I stopped driving it and parked in my back yard for about a year and then put in a warehouse where it has been since. Hopefully I can get it out of storage and into my shop right after Christmas and start rebuilding it again.
Here are some pictures.

It does happen. Couple years ago I departed the automotive service facility after an oil change in my Toyota Corolla. It was making a louder than normal engine noise all the way home so when I pulled into my driveway I opened the hood and saw that the oil change tech forgot to replace the oil filler cap on the valve cover. Same thing happened, oil all over the underside of the hood, etc. Went back to retrieve the oil filler cap and get the oil topped off and cleaned up. After a couple other SNAFUs at that place I changed service garages. Trust but verify!
Welcome to the site! Cool Story, I'm glad you still have the car! There's a few of us in the Pacific Northwest here. I'm in Medford, what part of the state are you in?
Welcome to the best Oldsmobile site there is today! Nice story on your '65! Hopefully you'll be able to move forward with it. I'm looking forward to updates on how you are progressing! That's a nice car - 455, A/C, power antenna!
