new guy from ND & ?

Howdy one and all. Glad to be on board. I am the owner of a newly acquired 1985 Toro Brougham. She has the 307 engine. I picked it up from guy who had it sitting on his farm for a few years; outside sadly. overall, she isn't in too bad a shape. I am slowly in the process of getting her back in prom condition but it will take awhile. I just recently had the carb gone through. Yuk. what a mess. I must tell you though that the mechanic said the electronic carb is a good one IF you know what you are doing. He put in a heart-shaped gasket (he called it a kit) and it fixed the problem. You had to basically put the pedal to the floor to get it started. Then you had to keep it all the way down to keep it running. Side effect of this was a ton of black smoke out the ****. It also put gas into the oil. Now she runs just fine after dumping the oil with a fresh batch. Should change the plugs again though...sigh.
Front speaker question. Am replacing the fronts. Driver side has a funky little plastic plug that sits in the grill. It has two wires coming from it. Waht is the purpose of this?
