new guy here from FLA

i just bought my first oldsmobile cutlass its a 1979. i came across it when i was looking for a chassis for my 79 monte carlo. i love the Gbody's. it's black with tan inside's and a slow 260v8. looks like i mite have to take the 350 out of the monte it i cant find a olds motor.its in good shape the laday that had it was a chain smoker. i like to think i saved a good car. ill get pics up asap. thanks

Just a quick note... The Monte's 350 is not a direct bolt in. An Olds 350 is a completely different engine. The Chevy 350 can be swapped but it is lots of work and frowned upon by many Olds fans. It's your car do as you wish. Welcome to the Olds club.

Welcome to C.O.
I agree with your choice to ditch the 260. There should be some 350/350 or 455/400s somewhere close to you. You'll find that most of the guys on this site don't want to see you putting a Chevy engine in your ride on an Oldsmobile forum. However, if you have no choice (tongue in cheek) and have to put in that Chevy 350? Post your threads in the "Non Oldsmobile Powered" section to avoid flareups.

Take care - looking forward to your progress. Please post pics of your new project when you get a chance.

EDIT: ^^what Adam said. The engine mounts are not the same. And the lightweight 200 tranny behind the 260 will not hold up to the power/torque of a 350.

Welcome - I'll leave the engine thing up to you! However, by now you know the drill, we like pictures!
