"New" guy in Colo.

Just wanted to say hello. I am a new member for this forum but definitely not new to Oldsmobiles. I've been on the 73-77 Olds site for several years and post there fairly regularly. I wanted to join this forum for awhile, so I finally did. Call it a New Year's resolution. LOL.

Anyway, I'm in Colorado and have several 73-77's. I have a 74 Supreme 2 dr. that I have owned since 1991, a 73 442 I've owned since 1998, and a 74 H/O W30 I've owned since 2011. The W30 is the current restoration project. My brother and I also co-own and race a 75 Cutlass at the local drag strip. It' a full race car and not driven on the street. I've owned a few other 73-77's over the years but what I listed above are the ones I have currently. My stable is full!

I'll get an avatar and signature set up when I have some time this weekend.

Have a great day.
Cheers!

Welcome to the site. Nice collection of 442's. You're going to get a lot of us asking for pics of not only your resto, but your other cars!

Interestingly enough that was the last year that Olds 'sort of' made the 442 it's own model. It was called the Cutlass 442 and that year it was the only model with the swept back grill. Looks like it's got some very usable parts. Would be really cool if it had a 403 instead of the 350. That car needs help and body looks to be in reasonable shape. Too bad the bucket seats don't swivel like in 74-76!

I actually called the lady who owns this car and inquired about it a few weeks ago. It is definitely a major project. The body looks solid, but the car needs so much it would take alot to put it back together. It's not running either. All that said, the car is worth saving and would be a good project for someone.

Will do! You've got a gorgeous 54 S-88 convertible. It would be so cool to get your car and my dad's Holiday side by side for a photoshoot!

Here are a few pics of my cars. First one is my brother's and my 75 Cutlass Supreme race car, named "DONUTRUN". Yes, the lights and siren work, and we watched too much Adam-12 and CHiPs when we were kids. It's got a 68 Toronado 455 engine, bored .030, Comp Cams high lift cam and their roller rocker kit, Edelbrock Performer intake, 10.25:1 compression forged pistons, Milodon gear drive, 850 cfm Q-Jet, and a few other goodies. The trans is a TH-400 with Hurst ratchet shifter. The rear end is a GM Corporate 10-bolt posi with Moser axles and Richmond 4:10:1 gears. The best time in the qtr. mi. is 12.88 sec. at about 103.6 mph. That's at about 5,700 ft above sea level! The car weighs just under 3,500 pounds without a driver (down from close to 4,200 pounds when the car was bone stock). Still, that's alot of metal to move! I'm always impressed with how well the engine "pulls." That's Oldsmobile big block torque in action! The car gets a lot of chuckles and attention at the track and most law enforcement really like the car!

Next is my 74 H/O W30. I have started the restoration, but really haven't gotten too far and don't have many pics yet. I bought the car from a good friend of mine who owned the car since the early 80's. He and his wife used the car for a regular driver for about 10 years. He then decided he wanted to restore it, so he took it apart, had it repainted, and then other projects got in the way. Long story short, he never finished the car and it just sat basically in storage. I bought it from him in 2011 and these are the pics from the night I brought it home. This spring I am planning on pulling the engine and trans, and doing alot of the mechanical work. The car is in very good condition overall and absolutely loaded with options. It has pretty much every Olds option with the exception of a grid type rear window defogger. It has all the Hurst options with the exception of the car alarm. My H/O is a unique color combo in that it was white with a white interior and black top. Not many white 74 H/Os had black tops. I will leave the car white with the black top, but have collected all excellent cond. black interior pieces. I will change the interior to black, because I like black interiors in the 74 H/O better.

Here is my 74 Cutlass Supreme. This is the car that got me really involved in Oldsmobiles. I've owned this car since 1991. My dad got a really good deal on this car and was going to resell it, but once he drove it he couldn't let it "get away." He needed a pickup so he traded me my El Camino for the Supreme. The Supreme was a one owner "little old lady" car and it had just over 25,000 orig. miles when I got it. I cleaned the car up because it sat outside in an apartment parking lot and the sun wasn't kind to the tires or paint. I drove this car every day to engineering college and work up until 2001 when I bought a new pickup. The car has only been driven occasionally since then and is now parked patiently waiting another freshening up / restoration. Sorry, I don't have many pics of my Supreme stored electronically, but here is a nice one.

Finally, here is my 73 442. I've owned it since the spring of 1998. I spent the next 3 years doing a complete restoration on it. The car has been a Colorado car since new, so it didn't have much rust. The worst areas were around the quarter windows (thanks to the vinyl top) and there were some pinhole areas in the trunk floor. A new trunk floor from a donor car was welded in. I completed all the restoration work myself except for final body and paint, upholstery, and installing the new vinyl top. It is alot of fun to drive and I've driven it to 4 different OCA Nationals in various parts of the country. Here are a couple nice pics of my car taken when a friend of mine and I did a photoshoot.

Great cars!
My Grandmother had a 1973 Cutlass. I remember driving it the summer of my 16th birhtday. I loved that car. I now use a 1975 Cutlass as my daily driver.

Welcome to the site.
