New Guy with a 70 Cutlass S
New Guy with a 70 Cutlass S
Just signed up now that I'm about to wrap up my current project and get back to an old one.
Current project:
P1000001.jpg
2000 Mustang GT that's gotten the full 03 Cobra swap treatment. IRS, 03 Cobra motor/transmission, tons of fuel upgrades, cams, pulley, blower port and then some.
With that almost done it's time for me to get back to my roots.
Here's the first car I ever bought, a 1970 Cutlass S when I was 16, just 7 years ago. Here's one of the few pictures actually in digital format-

I drove it like crazy for most of those years, bringing it up to a grand total of 101,XXXmi. Not bad for a 40+ year old car. But since I wanted to hang onto this wonderful car, I knew I had to restore it. I knew it had some rust, but it turned out to have a lot more than I expected. I tore it down in early 2010 as a broke college student. This is how it sat-

There was a whooooooole lot of rust hiding under quite a bit of bondo.
Then came the good news/bad news. Good news: I went from working for $8/hr to an engineers salary, so I could afford to do a very nice restoration. The bad news? I had to move to Indiana. So I've been here with my car still disassembled back in NY.
Now that my other project is almost done, I'm about to get a new truck that can haul it and anything else I please, and a new place with a garage, I'm turning my sights to the old Cutlass to give it the TLC it so desperately needs.
Hopefully I can find all sorts of tips and tricks for restoration here.
