the new.guy

Hey wasn't that a movie title? Well I am new to he forum just saying hello I have a 86 Cadillac with the heart.of an Oldsmobile 350. I just finished putting the new.motor in. I had it machined from Marshall machine shop in skowhegan Maine. But I was all ready to fire it up this weekend and what looks like a bad gasket between the head and block is leaking anti freeze badly. So now I get to tear it all apart. I have the edelbrock performer intake with the flowtech headers and a 700r4 tranny. And a Holley double pump Carb. Does anyone have suggestions for a better head gasket or way to make it seal better.

Ya I will be tearing into the gasket problem Tomorrow to try and discover what the issue is. Does anyone know a good way to reuse the antifreeze that leaked everywhere? Like a filter or something to run it through? Or would I be just better off getting new stuff.

Welcome to CO! Wow- if the heads were done at a machine shop and / or the engine i'd be talking to those guys. That sounds like bad work! I had a 1985 Buick LeSabre with the 307 olds engine in it- stupid of me to sell that car, it ran smooth and flawless, last year for rear wheel drive and the fisher body.

Ya I called them and they said take the head off and.inspect. I will replace the gasket and send them the bill for it. If I can't get a good seal I will end up sending the motor back. The big downside is there in Maine and I am in mass. I was told they do good work but. I hope this issue is resolved with another gasket I really don't want to pull the.motor again and send.it back to them.
