Hi Guys, I've been checking out the website for some time now, figured it was time to chime in. I have a 66 Cutlass Club (post) coupe, with a 455 and tri-carb. Last show I was at with it was Hudson Valley Oldsmobile show in N.Y. this past September. Those guys out on a great first show for the locals, and it was a pleasure to be there. I've had my 66 since being passed to me by my grandfather back in 1988, collected some parts over the years and currently i'm helping out a fellow 67 cutlass owner with a restoration.

Welcome, very nice Cutlass!

 

I had a 66 club coupe back in the late 60's. I didn't appreciate it as much as I should have (wanted a hard top). Sure wish I still had it. From what I've read they are very rare with under 4000 built. I've always thought the 66 was the nicest of the 64 to 67 Cutlasses and you have a very nice example.

 

There were 6353 F-85 V8 Club Coupes built in 66. 647 were 442's, 159 with L-69 option and a lowely 8 were W-30's. Rare bunch for sure.

I like to 442 touches you added, I have a 442 grille on mine too, came from my dad's original 66. I especially like the B85 chrome package your car has on top of the qtr and door belt line, thats a rare option. Even tougher to find those belt moldings for a sedan. Nice job on the paint, too.

Great looking 1966 Cutlass Club Coupe. Love the tri carbs. I may have missed it but is it automatic?

 

That's a nice ride. I almost got a base model '67 as my first car back around 1980. It was at a gas station near my house and needed a new transmission. I could have gotten it for $75. But gas had just edged up over $1 a gallon so I opted for a VW Beetle instead. I'm not sure how much I would have saved on gas but I have no doubt I saved myself a few speeding tickets with that decision.

 

Yes, Auto, its a turbo 350 rebuilt with transgo shift kit, bolted right in place of the 2 speed, I just didn't hook up the downshift cable, no place to really attach the cable to the center carb. Its a stock rebuilt 455 out of a 98, standard size pistons with cast iron rings and stock size bearings, was a real tight original motor, B tri-carb heads with 70' w-30 exhaust manifolds. Dumps into a full 2 1/2 inch exhaust, with 4:11 (sorry guys) 66' CHEVY rear. Its a real hybrid of OLDS parts, orig A/C blows cold with R134 freon. Had it to the track about 15 years ago before they closed WESTHAMPTON Dragway.

I lowered it a little to suit my son. Put all urethane front end bushings, had the steering box and pump rebuilt and changed to fast ratio, 3 turns or close lock to lock. A 1.25" sway bar up front. In the rear I used all UMI control arms with urethane bushings and a adjustable Roto Joint upper arm to prevent binding, and the adjustable brace from top to bottom, and a 1" rear sway bar. 17x8 wheels. It is a very good driver with great road manners and a comfortable ride. It is fun.
