Bought a 1972 supreme in March and have been working on it since. Engine rebuilt, trans rebuilt, front end complete. Painted it pinehurst green and installed a black vinyl top. This is now my daily driver. So far so good. I will post pictures. One last detail has me baffled, windshield wiper arm on driver side. Purchased the correct replacement but can’t get the driver side blade to go down parallel. If anyone has any thoughts I would love to hear them.

thank you and I look forward to sharing my experience with you all and look forward to any input.

thank you,

jeff

Welcome to the site, post some pics of your car when you get a chance. Have you tried taking the wiper arm off and rotating on the splines and reinstalling in the correct position?

Wiper pics

thank you for the reply. Here are pics. I have wondered if the stud or spline that the arm slides over needs to be rotated. Is that possible to your knowledge?

thank you
jeff

Looks like the blade is mounted incorrectly on the arm. Looks like it is out about 90*.

Mind you I don't have or had hideaway wipers. If you disconnect the secondary rod from the wiper and turn the wiper 180 degrees can you reconnect the rod placing the wiper in the correct position?

oldcutlass are you saying that the pin that holds the wiper blade should be pointing down and not up?

It looks to me like the “stud” and “post” are in the correct places. The post is about 10 o’clock. The lug on the stud is about 3 o’clock when in the parked position.

So is it the wrong wiper arm for the application? It looks as if the fixed arm that attaches to the stud is too long.

Maybe it’s just the picture, bu mine looked different where it attaches to the blade. My arm is 15”, the articulating piece is 14 1/2”
