New!!! Could use a lot of help.

I recently bought a 1967 oldsmobile cutlass supreme. This car has sparked an odd love for Oldsmobile.
I came across this cutlass while looking for a demo derby car on Craigslist. The post claimed to have 2 cars but did not have any info other than they needed to be gone or he was going to have them crushed. I decided to go take a look. I was in love when I arrived this man had parked his 1967 cutlass supreme and his wifes 1976 ford elite in a field in early 2000 when his wife passed. I picked them both up for $500. The cutlass is now my baby but I know very little about it. Having only 26000 miles it sure does look rough but I am the second owner. First thing I did was Change the oil and fuel filter, the trans was dry so I filled it with good fluid and changed spark plugs. When I put a battery in it she started at the first turn of the key. I've put new wheels on it and recently changed the carburetor from the original q-jet to an edelbrock 650. Here is my issue. I believe the 2 speed jetaway may be toast. I have reverse and at a 18-20 mph roll I have 2nd but no 1st gear. I can't get the dang thing to move any more. From a stop in drive it just revs up without moving. Is there a wAy to adjust this and any opinion what might be the problem. I put roughly 100 miles on it before first went out. This is what I know about the car. The motor is a 330 jetfire rocket that had a quadrajet. Transmission I believe is a jetaway 2 speed. It has AC, Power windows, trunk pop button, car is loaded for 67. The interior is in beautiful shape compared to the exterior dash has some cracks but the seats do not and the headliner is perfect. I love this car but instead of having someone do all the work I would really like to learn myself. This dang transmission is holding me back. It will be going to get a new paint job and minor rust on the bottom rocker taken out as I decide how I want it to look and how much to spend. I temporarily jazzed it up with some rattle can since I don't plan on keeping it original and I will keep it forever. Any advice or help is greatly appriciated.

Welcome to CO.
Great find at a nice price. The Jetaway wasn't the best. If you can
find a 350 turbo with the BOP bell housing, you will be much happier
with 3 forward gears. They are readily available, and will bolt right up.
Make sure you get the short tail unit. The only problem will be finding
a bracket for the kickdown cable. Good luck with her, and post some pics
when you can.

welcome

Therevare various a bunch of guys on here with 67s nice grab, and obviously a more performance oriented motor I think top of the line in 67 was a 400? But the fact your 330 hasa 4 bbl Iis good news anyway, I would suggest some pics, and a picture of the datsplate this way the gurus can decipher what you have .

What are your plans for her..

In the field since 2000 hah that isnt so bad I heard of a 69vert in jersey that has been vaulted up in a garage in jersey since 1994 lol....

I would say your trans is toast. They often are seen for sale on craigslist and I have seen them for free. The turbo 350 is a good choice but as said would require a kickdown cable. The turbo is a possibility as well that does not require a cable but would be a little in the way of "overkill". With a 3 speed conversion the ideal thing would be to find the correct dash bezel to properly identify the shift positions...PRNDSL instead of PRNDL that you have now.

Welcome to the site. If your fluid level is ok, your trans is probably a gonner. You can drop the pan and see if the filter is wasted. The St300 or Jetaway is a switch pitch trans, basically the torque converter is a variable vane unit controlled by the switch on the firewall attached to the throttle linkage. That switch also controls your passing gear.
