Hello, New and Could Use Some Help
Hi guys! Greetings from southern Maryland. I just picked up a 1988 Ninety-Eight. I know its not much of a "classic" but this seems like the best place for knowledge. Car has 100k on it and is mechanically sound and has no rust. The downside, and the reason I got it so cheap, is that the interior is trashed. So my first question is going to be does anyone know of a reliable source for this stuff? Also whats interchangeable with what? Am i wrong in assuming that I should be able to take seats out of any C-Body and put in there?
Welcome to CO. I think you are on the right track there. I don't know of a specific place to get interior stuff for your car but I would recommend you look at the local wrecking yard for a similar if not identical car to cannibalize from. Good luck.
Thanks for the reply. Local upholstery shop is more of the same story. $1000 just for recovering of front seats. The seats in this car are so far gone they need a complete foamectamy and recovering, or direct replacement.
Hello and welcome! Olds 88's are fine cars.
As far as parts as specialized as interior... I know you said your local junkard is a joke, but I have found that the older the car, the less inclusive the word "local" has to become. I'm not sure how big Marlyand is compared to the Gulf coast, but I find myself traveling 50+ miles east and west to my "local" junkyards. As far away as Mobile, AL (100 miles) for my Vista Cruiser to cannibalize a 72 cutlass and in the other direction, Harvey, La (60 miles) to take from a blue Custom Cruiser and an 85 Caprice. Lol. Haven't made it to the Baton Rouge Pull-A-Apart (85 miles) yet, but I'm sure I will have to one day.
In addition, other GM cars of multiple years are helpful to locate as well. I've taken parts for my Custom Cruiser from Caprices, Roadmasters and Parissennes. You'll have to contend with the non-original aspect of all that, but at least you'll have something until you can locate something better!

I would assume just about any of the full size GM cars of that era. As long as you don't mind an olds with a cadillac emblem on the seat! Lol. ::cough cough::
Sorry, I misread what ye had.
Same principles apply though.

Welcome. Throw in some mexican blankets and call it done, all the rat rodders consider that high fashion. Sort of kidding, maybe you can find some cheap seatcovers on JC Whitney until you locate something better.
