New 62 Cutlass owner in PA
Hello, I just picked up my first classic car, a 1962 F-85 Cutlass. It came from Oregon where it was purchased new. The 2nd owner bought it in 2007, and had it shipped to PA, where it sat in storage until I bought it 2 weeks ago.
The odometer now reads just under 35000 miles, and it may be accurate. There is very little wear on the brake pedal, and no major rust that I have found so far. The seats have been re-done with red velour, and has newer carpet. Its been repainted, but is covered in scratches, chips and some small dents. All the rubber is dry and cracked.
With a new battery, it started up on the first try after not being started for 5 years. Runs quiet and smooth, shifts well, but knocked a lot under load, which I assume is due to the 5 year old gas that was in it.
Before it moves again, all fluids will be flushed and replaced, and will get some new brakes if needed.
I need to finish bodywork on my other 'toy' car (1999 Pontiac) and get it sold so I can get to work on the Cutlass.
I've done extensive engine work and tuning on the GM 3800 engine, but this will be my first non-computer controlled car. I'll be spending a lot of time reading and learning.
Here are the pictures, as I received it.
Pictures are in the album below

I like the color, it may be the picture, but I like the blood red color. Looks very nice. I have a '61 that is bright red, a repaint before me. The trans is a problem now. I'm on the look out for all the parts to convert to a stick shift. I have come up with a 5 speed so far. just need the rest of the parts.
Good looking car.

I love the color too. It looks just like this GM promo pic. http://www.gmphotostore.com/1962-Old...info/53218211/
I just need one more hubcap so I can get rid of the skylark ones.
