New with a 442
New with a 442
Hi all!
I recently bought a 1970 Olds 442 convertible, true 442, but previous owners cloned it a W30. Don't like that one bit. That said, the car is really sound, no rust (that I can see), drives great and is what I wanted, a true 442 daily driver. It has a rebuilt 455 with E heads, Holley carb, The rear has the W27 12 bolt. Will find out the gear ratio and if its posi. I am not a collector nor a car show groupie. Just like to cruise with the top down and enjoy the car for what it is. For a 52 year old car , the interior and trimmings are all there with original pearl white interior. Oh yeah, some stuff don't work, like interior lights, turn signal and ignition switch, etc., but I am handy enough to fix it. So, this is my sweet drive. I grew up with Oldsmobile's. We had '65 F85, '67 Cutlass, '67 and '69 Toronados. My first car was a '66 Chevelle SS396 that I bought in 1968 for $1400. I street raced that car all over town. Had to put it up on blocks when I joined the Marine Corps in 1971. Sold it when I was discharged and regret it to this day. Been a muscle car fanatic ever since I took that drive in my friend's 1966 Hemi Charger that pinned me to the seat. Hope to continue my ride with the help and support from this site. Cheers! Moegs
