Hello fellow Oldsmobile enthusiast
I am Rolando I’m 45 yrs old
I have a1970 cutlass supreme I’ve owned my car for 22 yrs last time I drove it was 13 yrs ago. It has a stock rocket 350 I’m a dyi guy just like everyone here but I need lots of help. Ive neglected my car due to family and other personal issues and badd decisions. But I’m finally in a position that I can start paying attention to my side piece, but this side piece my wife is ok with. I’m in Southern California and it’s a pleasure too finally be able to join this community. So thank you for allowing me to share a lil about my self and will be looking forward to any advice I can receive and to learn more about what I’ve owned for a lifetime and don’t know nothing about. Once again thank you all.

Looks like a solid foundation - rust complicates things immensely. Mine was similar for many years - I got it running and drove it in its butt ugly form, with three different primer colors and some original color paint. Being able to drive it was great motivation to keep moving forward with working on the improving visual defencies.

A lot of us have stories similar to yours.

I bought my Vista Cruiser in Long Beach when it was 13 years old. I drove it for 20 years with dents, missing paint, and a 455 with less power than a 350. In those years, I always dreamed of the things I could do to make it the way I wanted.

Finally I had saved enough money and, over 15 years' time, I made it look and perform like my vision of it.

It sounds like you're ready for something similar. And I hope your time-line is faster than mine!

for starters a good carb shop that can rebuild my quadrajet and add an electric choke and what ever it’s missing and a good list of parts that I can use to replace the old ones. And a list of were I can get them from. And maybe a mechanic that is good with these cars when I can’t figure it out. I’m goin to get a chasis manual so I can put the vacuum lines in the right places.

Is there a problem with your original hot air choke?

I swapped mine to an electric choke due to no hot air port on the Performer RPM intake manifold and I like the way the original hot air choke worked compared to the electric one. The electric works adequately but the hot air just seemed better.

I think it looks great for sitting that long…..you’re lucky to be in SoCal.

I always just try to get my cars running and driving before doing any cosmetic items. If you can drive it around neighborhood it keeps me motivated to keep working on it.

i call it “roadkill” style….just get it running, moving and have fun.
